This is my last post on www.catholicymblog.com (as well as on its twin: www.dscottmiller.com –what marketing committee came up with that name?)
Just for the record, the decision was made during the third week of April… And the whole Best of the Blog series as well as the posts from the past ten days or so were all directed towards my taking leave of this blog.
For the last few months I have been aiming for some significant life changes. I am in the midst of a two week vacation (and, sadly, still have considerable vacation time to burn.) Beyond some time away, I am moving to a new apartment as well… And, I figure, what the heck, let’s add a third to the mix… walking away from daily (or near daily) blogging.
This August, we would have commemorated a full nine years of service (This site has been around a few months longer than YouTube and started a few months after Facebook – where’s my Aaron Sorkin written movie??) We have contributed nearly 4,750 posts (just short of 5,000 which we would have likely hit early in 2014) filled with comment, insight, humor, prayer, podcasts, and videos.
Yet, as job responsibilities have evolved over the years, I have found I have less energy for an isolated hobby like blogging. I do want to continue to write, but probably in a more longer form that the constraints that I have given myself in this venue. I imagine that you’ll still find stuff from me on-line in the future, just not here. I am committed already to contribute, on a regular basis (just not daily) to Project YM.
Thank you to all who have so generously supported, commented, stalked, encouraged and cajoled me in this service and ministry as a youth ministry blogger. Thanks for your patience over typos, badly-working hyperlinks, and times when site was under attack by malware.
Goodbye, Farewell, and God bless us all. Amen.
Thank you Scott!!! I’m SO sorry to see this end, but wish you the best in the future!

Thanks Scott, I’m a frequent reader and appreciate your insights on many levels. I’ll look forward to seeing you at Project YM.
There is something sad and right about closing up this wonderful website. You gave us something to think about when we started falling asleep, something to laugh about when started to get weary. You kept us current when our work consumed us. Most of all,YOU KEPT US – together and proud. You kept us proud of our Love for the Young, the Work, the Vision, the Church, and the Sacrifice. I am so grateful to you Scott. And I am not surprised at all that you knew when it was time to wrap it up. Mike C
Scott, thank you for all that you have shared with us. I enjoyed your posts and enjoyed keeping “in touch” through your writing. First North American Forum closes and now this – what is the Church to do?
Scott… your blog has been useful and inspirational to so many people including myself, so Thank You and well done.
I’ve also signed up for projectYM which seems like an amazing project 🙂
Though I knew this was coming seeing it in print is still kind of unreal. Without Scott’s insight, humor, advise, partnership, and leadership sites like rebuildmychurch.org, projectym.com, and so many other’s would have have taken years longer to come about.
For lifting us up, standing with us, and always pushing us forward I thank you.
Looking forward to joining along side you over at projectym.com
Thank you for so many years of blogging! I have enjoyed and have been challenged by your thought provoking insight! You will be missed.
Scott, because of Mark Osetricher’s mention in a talk he gave at Life Teen convention, I found out about you. I will point to that, a conversation you and I had over the phone years ago and this blog as very formative, hope-filled and, most importantly, convicting. You gave me permission to deconstruct, only to reconstruct. I know your ministry will continue in another form, but please know that you have made a great impact on mine.
Scott,
Thank you for your vocation to Youth Ministry. You are one of my YM heroes! Thank you for this resource. It will be missed. May God bless you in your new endeavors.

Definitely disappointed to read this today, as you’ve certainly left an incredible digital legacy. Thanks for putting so much into this site that encouraged and supported youth ministers old and new across the continent (and beyond, I would imagine.)
Mike
And thank YOU, dear friend!
Peace and all good!
Thanks for your dedication and service
I was an early (8yrs) reader and checked your blog as soon as I logged on my computer. I will miss your wisdom and your insight. Thank you for all that I have learned through your hard work. This serves as a lesson as well. We need to review our priorities and do what we can well. God bless.

How ironic, the first time I came to this blog, it was the April fools day joke about ending the blog.
Thanks for everything Scott. You helped me be a better Youth Minister in many ways, and I used a lot of what I learned here to land my current YM position.
God Bless
Matt
It was great to bump into you in Madrid at WYD. This blog was a must visit each day. Thank you for all your help and insight over the years. God bless, Dave.
Your insights and spirit always re-fueled me. Kudos for you to make a change for yourself. God bless in your new endeavors!
I am grateful for all your wisdom and insight over the years. Your blog was on autoload on my browser each morning as I took a glance on what was happening in the YM world. We have shared many thoughts and laughs over the years here. Thank you and God bless you with your new found time and priorities!
