A Place of Imagery

Father Robert Barron or Word on Fire and the Catholicism series recently tour Australia and was interviewed about how the Church communicates her answers…

This is a Catholic moment.  Why? Because of the new media. You’ve got this explosion of imagery… of sending things now 24/7 all over the world, just like that.

YouTube can and should be a Catholic place… a place of imagery.  People are much more likely (people under 40) to click on a visual, a video rather than a text.

That’s our moment.

So, I think that’s something that we should seize and we should encourage young people to say that a catholic thing- to love the image and to benefit from it.

I think we’ve got to move into the new media and we have to do it with boldness and with a Catholic confidence.

D. Scott Miller

D. Scott Miller is the dean of Catholic Youth Ministry bloggers which is a polite way of either saying that he is just plain old or has been blogging for a long time (since 2004.)

Scott recently married the lovely Anne and together they have five adult young people and also grandparent three delightful kids (so, maybe he is just plain old!) Scott presently serves at Saint John the Evangelist in Columbia, MD as the director of youth and young adult ministry.

He has previously served on the parish, regional, diocesan, and national levels as well as having taught within a catholic high school. He is one of the founders of RebuildMyChurch and has returned to posting regularly (keeping regular is important to old guys) at ProjectYM.
