A Wee Drop of Coors

st patrick's day Parades occur in New York. Chicago dyes the river, but… Not everyone really gets Saint Patrick’s Day

Once I was doing a speaking gig in Caldwell, Idaho. It was St. Patrick‘s Day evening and I and the lovely Anna Scally made our way across the street to an establishment renown to sell adult beverages.

I go to the bar and ask the barkeeper for some green beer.  He looks at me as if I am a part of the East Coast elite, and mumbles We only got Coors. “No green beer?” I ask. Nope. Coors. “How ‘bout a Baileys Irish Cream?” How ‘bout a Coors?

Seriously, the place was completely devoid of anything designating what has become a cultural bar holiday. So, I order Coors and we engaged the barkeeper about what brought us into town (hmmm, wonder how he guessed we were out-of-townies) and shared a little good news about the church and kids.

And, isn’t that the way to celebrate St. Patrick, one who brought the Word to Ireland?  So, if you can, take a moment to do so tonight… extra points if you can achieve this while ordering a non-green colored Coors.
