This is our prayer this day, the Second Sunday of Advent:
Lord, You proclaim peace to your people, that salvation is very near.
Your patience is enduring. You desire that all come to repentance, not wishing that any should perish. One day for us is like a thousand years while a thousand years for You like one day. You give comfort to Your people, feeding Your flock, gathering lambs in Your arms and carrying them in Your loving bosom. We are not worthy to stoop and loosen the thongs of Your sandals, yet You have baptized us with water and Holy Spirit.
Your Reign, O Lord, finds the space where truth springs out of the earth and justice flows from heaven, where kindness and truth meet, where justice and peace warmly kiss. Boundaries dissolved in the coming of the day of God, the merged space of new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
Our response demands that we cry out. We are to conduct urselves in holiness and devotion, waiting for and hastening the day of the Lord. In arid and dry places of this life, we will prepare the way of Living Waters, making straight paths for the Way, assuring evey valley is filled with the Life, and that all lands are level in the Truth. Lord, we have seen Your kindness, we seek Your salvation.
Lord, send your messengers before You to prepare Your way. <image source>
