Arrived!

2387_picture_of_a_styled_image_of_a_bus_driver_in_uniformSorry for the delay in posting

We have arrived.  The bus trip was, as anticipated, long.

Six buses picked up young people from all around the diocese and we all converged on St. Ignatius of Loyola in Ijamsville for our Pilgrim’s Mass.  Amazingly, the buses kinda converged together very much within the same time… always like it when a plan comes together.  Father Michael Jedrick, the pastor there, and his team provided great hospitality and he was a fired-up presider with a church filled with young people on a late Wednesday night. The St. Timothy in Walkersville Youth Band provided music. And Father Matt Buenning blew the roof off the church with a rousing homily that placed the readings in the theme of our conference and challenged us to experience our travels (and he was on the bus, as well) as pilgrimage.

We climbed onto our buses, popped a video on the screens, blew up our inflatable neck pillows, and hunkered down for the night. The next morning, we pulled into Old Country Buffet for a filling breakfast.  (We were happy to be out of our bus seats!)

When we arrived at our hotel, we were fortunate to have our conference credentials and our room keys waiting for us, so we were off for a shower and a change of clothes.  After that, the ArchBalt converged on both the city and the conference.  They toured the exhibit hall, and Matt Palmer toured it with one of our parishes.

D. Scott Miller

D. Scott Miller is the dean of Catholic Youth Ministry bloggers which is a polite way of either saying that he is just plain old or has been blogging for a long time (since 2004.)

Scott recently married the lovely Anne and together they have five adult young people and also grandparent three delightful kids (so, maybe he is just plain old!) Scott presently serves at Saint John the Evangelist in Columbia, MD as the director of youth and young adult ministry.

He has previously served on the parish, regional, diocesan, and national levels as well as having taught within a catholic high school. He is one of the founders of RebuildMyChurch and has returned to posting regularly (keeping regular is important to old guys) at ProjectYM.
