BOB11: Serial Blogger

11As we wrap up our ninth year of blogging, we are offering a retrospective of the best 20 things that I have most treasured about the blog. Here is #11.

According to my site meter, Solidarity was #14 overall.  The pull quote from that was:

In the world today, the path of dangerous goodness is a dangerous path because self-ish-ness is not part of the work of discipleship. Those who aspire to be disciples remain centered upon both God and others. Faith for the disciple is never about being the select or the elite; it is built upon hospitality and inclusivity.

But, it was part of something much larger: A series entitled Caffeine: Brewing a Youth Ministry that Stimulates. (Another favorite piece of that series was Saint Caffeine,) Recently, we had another series offering more vision of youth ministry Celebrate Me Home. Finally, while not a series, a long form posting Can I Get a Witness? was another posting of note along these lines – all meant to develop a long line of thought beyond just a short blog posting.

Only a Serial Blogger can group over 100 posts together for one day’s worth of recognition!

D. Scott Miller

D. Scott Miller is the dean of Catholic Youth Ministry bloggers which is a polite way of either saying that he is just plain old or has been blogging for a long time (since 2004.)

Scott recently married the lovely Anne and together they have five adult young people and also grandparent three delightful kids (so, maybe he is just plain old!) Scott presently serves at Saint John the Evangelist in Columbia, MD as the director of youth and young adult ministry.

He has previously served on the parish, regional, diocesan, and national levels as well as having taught within a catholic high school. He is one of the founders of RebuildMyChurch and has returned to posting regularly (keeping regular is important to old guys) at ProjectYM.
