BOB19: Hello Pope Francis

19As we wrap up our ninth year of blogging, we are offering a retrospective of the best 20 things that I have most treasured about the blog. Here is #19.

In case you missed it, just recently the Church welcomed a new Pope….  And that is the great thing about a blog… it allows you to offer commentary on all sorts of current events. We offered a wrap-up after a certain point of time, but the reality is that Pope Francis continues to engage the attention of this blogger. When he was announced, we commented on his very first impressions

     But then…
And now I’ll give you my blessing… but first – first, I ask you this favor: before the bishop blesses his people, I ask that you pray to the Lord that he might bless me: the prayer of the people, seeking God’s blessing for their bishop. In silence, please pray over me…. And then he bowed before us all.
Seriously, at that moment, Francis did have to say much more of anything at all, he had me at hello.

I invite you to check out the whole post.

D. Scott Miller

D. Scott Miller is the dean of Catholic Youth Ministry bloggers which is a polite way of either saying that he is just plain old or has been blogging for a long time (since 2004.)

Scott recently married the lovely Anne and together they have five adult young people and also grandparent three delightful kids (so, maybe he is just plain old!) Scott presently serves at Saint John the Evangelist in Columbia, MD as the director of youth and young adult ministry.

He has previously served on the parish, regional, diocesan, and national levels as well as having taught within a catholic high school. He is one of the founders of RebuildMyChurch and has returned to posting regularly (keeping regular is important to old guys) at ProjectYM.
