California

CA As we did in 2009 and 2010, we are splitting the Golden State in half.  Here’s the northern section of the state.

+ The Catholic Scouting page in Oakland provides links to all the Scouting Councils in the diocese
+ Sacramento’s www.icatholicyouth.com is a good-looking site which shares videos including this one on saints
+ Speaking of videos, San Jose has a promotional video setting a focus on youth ministry right up top on their site.
+ San Francisco announced that the Jacob & Matthew Band are headlining ONFIRE, Northern California’s youth and young adult gathering at Six Flags on September 22.
+ We are aware that the Diocesan Director position is open in Santa Rosa.  Thanks for your many years of partnership, Stan!
+ Stockton‘s page is pretty jazzy looking as well. The ONFIRE promo video can be found here.

We’ll head to SoCal next Tuesday. If you are from Northern California, pour yourself a glass of something good from Napa Valley, then drop a comment and offered a toast.

D. Scott Miller

D. Scott Miller is the dean of Catholic Youth Ministry bloggers which is a polite way of either saying that he is just plain old or has been blogging for a long time (since 2004.)

Scott recently married the lovely Anne and together they have five adult young people and also grandparent three delightful kids (so, maybe he is just plain old!) Scott presently serves at Saint John the Evangelist in Columbia, MD as the director of youth and young adult ministry.

He has previously served on the parish, regional, diocesan, and national levels as well as having taught within a catholic high school. He is one of the founders of RebuildMyChurch and has returned to posting regularly (keeping regular is important to old guys) at ProjectYM.
