BALTIMORE, MD — For several decades, Mark Pacione was the tireless champion of youth ministry in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. He was honored May 5 for that service at the Archdiocese of Baltimore Division of Youth and Young Adult Ministry Annual Recognition Celebration, receiving the division’s highest honor.  Read more about Mark and the other award winner in the Catholic Review

BALTIMORE, MD — Matt Palmer, staff writer for The Catholic Review, earned an award of excellence from the Associated Church Press. Matt was recognized for his coverage of the Baltimore Youth Catholic Conference in Ocean City last year. See the Catholic Review article.

News from ‘Round Here:

Last Sunday was Divine Mercy Sunday and busy – an early morning watch of the beatification of JP2 on EWTN, the year ending Archdiocesan Youth Advisory Council meeting, some more office filing and then a young adult mass and celebration of JP2. So, then, Monday was a day off.

Tuesday was staff supervision and a read-through on the Annual Recognition Celebration (ARC) scripts – a few edits here and there but all good. Off to the award shop to pick the awards. Wednesday I hosted a planning breakfast at my place.  Middle school events and banana pancakes.  Yum!

Thursday was a challenging day… lots of stuff to address all the while doing final packing and prep for the ARC.  The evening was a wonderful family celebration. Friday was unpack day, a brief meeting with the Superintendant of Schools and then out for the weekend.

D. Scott Miller

D. Scott Miller is the dean of Catholic Youth Ministry bloggers which is a polite way of either saying that he is just plain old or has been blogging for a long time (since 2004.)

Scott recently married the lovely Anne and together they have five adult young people and also grandparent three delightful kids (so, maybe he is just plain old!) Scott presently serves at Saint John the Evangelist in Columbia, MD as the director of youth and young adult ministry.

He has previously served on the parish, regional, diocesan, and national levels as well as having taught within a catholic high school. He is one of the founders of RebuildMyChurch and has returned to posting regularly (keeping regular is important to old guys) at ProjectYM.
