PROJECTYM GOES NONPROFIT
In the last 6 years, ProjectYM has grown above and beyond what the three of us ever thought possible. We’ve been able to serve and support thousands of Catholic youth ministry leaders across the country and around the world. We’ve hosted online conferences, spoken at huge events, helped build the largest online community for Catholic youth workers, partnered with amazing organizations, advocated for local youth ministry leaders, and pushed the field of Catholic youth ministry forward.
We’ve learned a lot over the last 6 years, and we’re incredibly excited about the next chapter in the ProjectYM story…
We’re becoming a nonprofit organization. When we started ProjectYM back in 2013, we registered it as a for-profit company. With three partners and an unclear plan, it was the right thing to do at the time, but things have changed a lot since then. We’ve focused our mission, defined our audience, and proven our methodology. I’m more sure now than ever about how important our ministry is. There are so many Catholic youth workers around the world in need of support, training, and community. So many youth ministers who need to know that the work they’re doing is important, and that they matter.
Quite honestly, that need has outpaced our revenue. As a for-profit company, we’ve had to rely on what we could sell to fund the ministry we’re called to do. Making this shift to a nonprofit organization allows us to find funding for our work through additional avenues (including grants, donors, and fundraising efforts).
It also means we’ll be able to dedicate more time and attention to serving youth ministry leaders in communities that can’t afford to invest financially in youth ministry training – including an intentional focus on providing training, support, and resources in Spanish and other languages.
Looking at how far we’ve come in the last 6 years, we are very excited to see where God is going to take us in the next 6 – but we need your help to get there.
The process of transitioning to a nonprofit organization is not easy (or cheap). If you believe that the work we’re doing at ProjectYM is important, please take a minute to make a donation to help us cover the financial, legal, and administrative costs of this transition.
