Hitting the Trail

trail_013 Last November, while I was on Thanksgiving vacation, I extolled upon the wonders of a planned vacation and discussed how I already had two in the dreaming stages…  They will become a reality soon… back to Florida to visit my daughter and mother and to catch some springtime rays of sunshine, and an early summer run to Hawai’i where my son is completely his four-year commitment to the US Army.

Can I help it if I have family in some great settings?

And, I bought both these sets of tickets in what was a very busy time in the office for me. It was great to have the momentary dream and distraction of a beach, a book, and a drink with a little umbrella in it while many details were whizzing by me over some long days.

Anyway, I’m now adding a third event for this summer- dates yet to be determined. Just arrived in the mail are maps and a trail guide for the 40 miles that compose the Appalachian Train in Maryland. (A friend and a hiker tipped me off that some of this hike counts among the nastiest along the AT- which only encouraged my stubbornness.) It will be an interesting and new experience.

I’ve learned that the more planning that I put into my trips and time away — even my weekends off — is usually connected to how cool the experience is for me.  Are you planning your next break as well?
