I know many of us have twitter accounts and we always look for more good material to share on them with those we know. Here’s a little “hack” to help you post good material. It’s 2 easy steps; it will be set up before you realize it.
Pope Francis tweets really good stuff from @Pontifex and you can automatically share it. I even created an account for the sole purpose of retweeting what the Pope tweets and share on a Facebook page.
Step 1: Link your account to Round Team
The only app I’ve found to automatically retweet is Round Team. To connect your twitter to it, click here and then click “sign in with twitter” on the top right. You’ll be redirected back to twitter and need to authorize logging on your twitter account. Then you will presented with some terms, they are fairly easy to break but I don’t think this does. Click you’ll agree to terms and then say you want to connect to Round team which will do the loop through twitter again. Take the free plan and do whatever you want about automatically retweeting mentions.
Step 2: Set up Automatic Retweets
Once you’ve gotten through all the difficult steps to log in, setting this up is fairly easy. The following screen will be before you:
Click on the big “+” beside “lists.” A menu will pop out. Enter “Pontifex2FB” as the user and “Pontifex” as the list (double-check this as entering wrong could cause problems). Then click the check mark. A Screen shot:
That’s it! Now your account will automatically retweet everything the Pope tweets. (I have to admit that there is one small thing, every so often – I think every 50 retweets – Round Team sends out a tweet advertising that you use their services; if you want to eliminate, pay them. For me this is no big deal.)
To retweet others ( such as your bishop)
If you want to retweet Pope Francis and your bishop or just your bishop, or certain cool tweeps like me or Mark Hart, you’ll need to make a list with who you want to retweet. Go to “me” on top then “lists” on the left, and a create list will appear just below your profile.
Then you’ll have to name the list. Once you click “save list” on that pop-up window, you’ll be sent to the list. You still need to populate the list. To do that, find them and click the little head beside the Follow button. It gives you the option to add them to your lists. Once you make the list, go through the process above but put your name and list in the place of “Pontifex2FB” and “Pontifex.” If you want to avoid Retweeting our replies, there is a fairly easy option menu in Round Team (I didn’t mention it above as Pope Francis never tweets replies).
Note: I did screen shots just before twitter’s graphical change – the layout hasn’t changed.
FYI: this no longer works. This was posted a while back and although Round Team still exists, they no longer offer a free option.
