It’s Groundhog Day!
And here’s a clip from the Bill Murray classic. Which should qualify for the funsie category…
except it is very much a cautionary tale.
News weatherman, Phil, finds himself in Punxsutawney, PA living Groundhog Day over and over again. He becomes so comfortable and aware of each moment of the day, he becomes (self-described) god-like.
When we keep doing the same thing / program / speech / class over and over we have placed ourselves in the same trap.
We know that there is more life outside our comfort level or personal nostalgia (where, of course, we have god-like knowledge) We must take steps to throw ourselves into what is next for us. Phil is hoping to do this by stepping out of his pattern and asking Pita to accompany him. And, this is how it all ends…
Phil: Do you know what today is?
Rita: No, what?
Phil: Today is tomorrow. It happened.
