Indiana

IN

We virtually visited Indiana in 2009 and 2010 and then bused to it for NCYC in 2011, so it must be time for our annual visit.

+ The Evansville site starts off on this note: The world is simply not the same as it was just a few years ago.  The days of CYO dances and making crafts with popsicle sticks and yarn are over…thank God!
+ The Fort Wayne – South Bend office offers presentations on Theology of the Body, Whateverism, Building a Successful Program in a Small Parish, and Catechesis for Teens.
+ Gary has a bi-weekly newsletter, YM Notes, where the recent edition in late May called attention to NFCYM resources such as Competencies for Volunteers Serving in Youth Ministry Supporting Roles which provides YMlogopractical help for youth ministry leaders as they invite, prepare, and lead volunteers for youth ministry.
+ Indianapolis has an Archdiocesan Youth Council, which will likely be helpful with elements of the 2013 NCYC
+ I was attracted to the logo on the Lafayette in Indiana page.  It seems to be a cross amidst the energy of youth.

So, Hoosier state, drop a comment and remind me why Breaking Away is one of my favorite movies.

D. Scott Miller

D. Scott Miller is the dean of Catholic Youth Ministry bloggers which is a polite way of either saying that he is just plain old or has been blogging for a long time (since 2004.)

Scott recently married the lovely Anne and together they have five adult young people and also grandparent three delightful kids (so, maybe he is just plain old!) Scott presently serves at Saint John the Evangelist in Columbia, MD as the director of youth and young adult ministry.

He has previously served on the parish, regional, diocesan, and national levels as well as having taught within a catholic high school. He is one of the founders of RebuildMyChurch and has returned to posting regularly (keeping regular is important to old guys) at ProjectYM.
