Into the Weekend

Friday afternoon, our groups ventured around or hung out at Placido de Esportes.  The Knights of Columbus Live and Life Center was sponsoring panel sessions. Matt Palmer and I caught the Social Networking panel (which I have notes and might right about later on… no promises.) A panel spoke about faith and the entertainment world as well and some of our young people caught that.

Our group participated in a Lectio Divina prayer in the evening and stuck in for Eucharistic Adoration as well (Word and Eucharist!)

Saturday was the USA mass, back again at Placido de Esportes, and with our third homily from Archbishop Dolan.  He reflected on the Hill of the Vatican where St. Peter was crucified  upside down and how the Christian perspective is upside-down from the world’s.  It was a great homily and I’m sorry I didn’t take better notes. (UPDATE: But, Matt Palmer grabbed audio… It is really worth a listen!) The Archdiocese provided all five of the servers and they were all steller.

Afterwards, our Archbishop met with our group and blessed them on their way to the vigil.

D. Scott Miller

D. Scott Miller is the dean of Catholic Youth Ministry bloggers which is a polite way of either saying that he is just plain old or has been blogging for a long time (since 2004.)

Scott recently married the lovely Anne and together they have five adult young people and also grandparent three delightful kids (so, maybe he is just plain old!) Scott presently serves at Saint John the Evangelist in Columbia, MD as the director of youth and young adult ministry.

He has previously served on the parish, regional, diocesan, and national levels as well as having taught within a catholic high school. He is one of the founders of RebuildMyChurch and has returned to posting regularly (keeping regular is important to old guys) at ProjectYM.
