THE WITNESS OF FRANCIS OF ASSISI Dear friends, Francis was a great saint and a joyful man. His simplicity, his humility, his faith, his love of Christ, his kindness to every man and woman made him happy in every situation. In fact, between sanctity and joy there subsists a profound and indissoluble relation… Looking at St. Francis’ witness, we understand that this is the secret of true happiness: to become saints, close to God! – Pope Benedict XVI

FORMAT SWITCH Based on feedback regarding how the formatting appears for previous newsletters in your e-mail, we are moving to Vertical Response. Please “pardon our dust” as we renovate our efforts.

BYCC The BYCC deadline is October 9. Registration information here. Please pass along the promo videos (first promo and NEW second promo) as well as watch for updates on the twitter feed.

YOUTH RALLY AND MASS FOR LIFE Thanks for all those who have placed their reservations for space for the January 25 event. We are making requests for over 1000 seats while acknowledging that we have previously received 800 spots for this event which we share nationally. We are still accepting reservations but will be placing them on a waiting list.
> Of course, you can still encourage participation in the actual Rally and March for Life as well as consider Arlington’s Life is Very Good Morning Rally and/or Evening of Prayer.

HOW TO RAISE CHASTE TEENS Jason Evert will speak to parents October 22 at 7pm at Mount de Sales Academy.

NEW LIFE Welcome to the world, Gabriella Link, daughter of AnnaMarie and Marty Link. Gabriella arrived on Sunday at 20 inches long, 8 lbs, 8 oz.

D. Scott Miller

D. Scott Miller is the dean of Catholic Youth Ministry bloggers which is a polite way of either saying that he is just plain old or has been blogging for a long time (since 2004.)

Scott recently married the lovely Anne and together they have five adult young people and also grandparent three delightful kids (so, maybe he is just plain old!) Scott presently serves at Saint John the Evangelist in Columbia, MD as the director of youth and young adult ministry.

He has previously served on the parish, regional, diocesan, and national levels as well as having taught within a catholic high school. He is one of the founders of RebuildMyChurch and has returned to posting regularly (keeping regular is important to old guys) at ProjectYM.
