Soul

When I thought about lifting the concept of YouTube You Can Use for the blog, I knew that this would be an early posting.  It is my “go to” image about Church.

If you are pursuing faith all on your own, it is like spinning your wheels separately.  Church is when we roll together.

Pope Benedict at World Youth Day reminded us that following Jesus in faith means walking at his side in the communion of the Church. We cannot follow Jesus on our own. Anyone who would be tempted to do so ‘on his own,’ or to approach the life of faith with that kind of individualism so prevalent today, will risk never truly encountering Jesus, or will end up following a counterfeit Jesus.”

Church is where we “Hold on to the moment when there is something brewing in the sky.”

Our biggest challenge, of course, is to make sure Church is as cool as three hamsters rocking out in a car.

D. Scott Miller

D. Scott Miller is the dean of Catholic Youth Ministry bloggers which is a polite way of either saying that he is just plain old or has been blogging for a long time (since 2004.)

Scott recently married the lovely Anne and together they have five adult young people and also grandparent three delightful kids (so, maybe he is just plain old!) Scott presently serves at Saint John the Evangelist in Columbia, MD as the director of youth and young adult ministry.

He has previously served on the parish, regional, diocesan, and national levels as well as having taught within a catholic high school. He is one of the founders of RebuildMyChurch and has returned to posting regularly (keeping regular is important to old guys) at ProjectYM.
