The Absence of Leadership
The Absence of Leadership
In this clip from The American President, Louis, played by Michael J. Fox, challenges the president that he needs to step up and lead. He says that, in the absence of leadership, people will listen to anyone that steps up to the microphone. People want leadership so badly that they’ll follow anyone who they think is a leader, even if they are not the best leader.
I think I sometimes assume that people know what a good leader looks like. Then I see people making bad decisions because a “leader” influenced them to do so. Are you stepping up to be a leader?
Question: What do you think happens in the absence of leadership?
