Last weekend, we learned that Jonathan Winters passed away.
I’ve always admired comedians, especially those who are of the inventive sort out of improv – those who worked through Second City an into Second City.
Robin Williams always proved to entertain in a very manic sort of way with every-flowing changing of scene, venue, character, whatever…
But the master of all this was Winters… This clip is from the Tonight Show… pre-Leno and Carson.
At our best, I like to believe that youth ministry can and should be this inventive in our efforts to share the message with young people – and, folks, this is not the stuff that you will ever find in a packaged binder but in hours of intentional effort and practice towards being great at something.
Enjoy watching a master at work. Eternal rest and peace grant unto him O Lord: and let perpetual light shine upon him.
