The Wrap-Up

Late Sunday afternoon, we walked back over to San Theresa o’ San Jose and met with Archbishop O’Brien.

Our group was joined my the young women of Mount De Sales as well.

He harkened back to Pope Benedict’s words earlier in the day: We cannot follow Jesus on our own. Anyone who would be tempted to do so “on his own”, or to approach the life of faith with that kind of individualism so prevalent today, will risk never truly encountering Jesus, or will end up following a counterfeit Jesus.

As we had not been able to receive Eucharist at the closing mass, we moved over to the Church for a short Communion Service with Father Austin, A Dominican travelling with the MdS girls.  Archbishop O’Brien offered closing comments and a blessing.

(as always, I’m indebted to the Catholic Review’s Matt Palmer for capturing video- Look below, I’ve been embedding more of his media into previous postings)

D. Scott Miller

D. Scott Miller is the dean of Catholic Youth Ministry bloggers which is a polite way of either saying that he is just plain old or has been blogging for a long time (since 2004.)

Scott recently married the lovely Anne and together they have five adult young people and also grandparent three delightful kids (so, maybe he is just plain old!) Scott presently serves at Saint John the Evangelist in Columbia, MD as the director of youth and young adult ministry.

He has previously served on the parish, regional, diocesan, and national levels as well as having taught within a catholic high school. He is one of the founders of RebuildMyChurch and has returned to posting regularly (keeping regular is important to old guys) at ProjectYM.
