Thirty

Our prayer for this day, the Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time

We are supposed to be imitators of the saints who have been before us and of the Lord who the holy ones held up. God is Lord. We are called to imitate the rock of refuge, a shield from harm, the horn of salvation. Together with the Lord we form a stronghold!  We are to hear those who cry out as does the Lord, we respond for we are compassionate.

We are to be models for all the believers.  We will not oppress an alien, for we in faith were once aliens yourselves in the land of Egypt.  We will not extort those in our debt nor wrong widows or orphans, for if they were wronged, they would cry out seeking compassion, Let’s save ourselves a step for if that occurred, we would be compelled to respond.

We love you, Lord, be our strength. Be our strength of heart, our strength of soul, our strength of mind. Open us that we might love like you and love those around us as well.

D. Scott Miller

D. Scott Miller is the dean of Catholic Youth Ministry bloggers which is a polite way of either saying that he is just plain old or has been blogging for a long time (since 2004.)

Scott recently married the lovely Anne and together they have five adult young people and also grandparent three delightful kids (so, maybe he is just plain old!) Scott presently serves at Saint John the Evangelist in Columbia, MD as the director of youth and young adult ministry.

He has previously served on the parish, regional, diocesan, and national levels as well as having taught within a catholic high school. He is one of the founders of RebuildMyChurch and has returned to posting regularly (keeping regular is important to old guys) at ProjectYM.
