This is Church

Another video for you to use with young people.

I often do a simulation activity on Confirmation retreats called the Apostles‘ Mission, originally from a very old Center for Ministry Development related resource

Small groups end up debating with one another if the Apostles‘ Mission was primarily to preach the Gospel, or heal the sick, or go away and pray, or return to families, or any number of other choices.

Invariably, after having left the door opened for other choices, someone will suggest “Do It All.” which captures, I think, the essence of the great commission found in Matthew 28: 19-20 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.

This video originally appeared at Saddleback.

D. Scott Miller

D. Scott Miller is the dean of Catholic Youth Ministry bloggers which is a polite way of either saying that he is just plain old or has been blogging for a long time (since 2004.)

Scott recently married the lovely Anne and together they have five adult young people and also grandparent three delightful kids (so, maybe he is just plain old!) Scott presently serves at Saint John the Evangelist in Columbia, MD as the director of youth and young adult ministry.

He has previously served on the parish, regional, diocesan, and national levels as well as having taught within a catholic high school. He is one of the founders of RebuildMyChurch and has returned to posting regularly (keeping regular is important to old guys) at ProjectYM.
