May the Peace of our Ascended Lord be with you.

L.E.M. Convocation
We have recently been asking you to reserve October 2 for the Symposium of Lay Ecclesial Ministers with Archbishop Lori. Please review the Invitation as well as the program Flyer, and plan now to Register.

Reminders:
> Please invite your high school seniors who have made plans for college next year to consider signing up for the Newman Connection which will match them up with the college’s campus ministry. Paste this link http://www.newmanconnection.com/connect for your social media connections.
> If your parish / school is planning on participating in a summer 2013 workcamp service experience and /or summer youth conference, please take a moment to participate in our Workcamp/Conference survey.
> There is still space available for the High School Leadership Institute as well as JAW. This summer also has vocations programming for high-school aged participants. The Fiat Days for girls are at Msgr. O’Dwyer June 23-26 and Quo Vadis for bays will be at Mt. St. Mary July 21-24, 2013.
> Will your parish or school be among the many gathered for the World Youth Day overnight July 27-28?

In the News:
The Catholic Review recently had articles of a youth ministry nature – one on the Annual Recognition Celebration and another on the Annual Boy Scout interfaith retreat. Speaking of news and the ARC, surprise guest Georgina Vaca (formerly of our office) was presently and showing off her engagement ring from fiancée, Laurent!

Hyperlinks Worth Checking:
> The Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) at Georgetown University recently released research on The Catholic Teenager: A few mysteries solved.
> As we do ministry with young people, are you helping those who Ain’t Got No Words?

In the Acts of the Apostles, the disciples were admonished by an angel after the Ascension: “Men of Galilee, why are you standing there looking at the sky?” It is a good reminder that we all have work to do on behalf of the Reign of God. Get to it. May God bless you in your tasks!

For web readers, please be advised that we will no longer feature our office newsletters sent on Thursdays on-line after today.)

D. Scott Miller

D. Scott Miller is the dean of Catholic Youth Ministry bloggers which is a polite way of either saying that he is just plain old or has been blogging for a long time (since 2004.)

Scott recently married the lovely Anne and together they have five adult young people and also grandparent three delightful kids (so, maybe he is just plain old!) Scott presently serves at Saint John the Evangelist in Columbia, MD as the director of youth and young adult ministry.

He has previously served on the parish, regional, diocesan, and national levels as well as having taught within a catholic high school. He is one of the founders of RebuildMyChurch and has returned to posting regularly (keeping regular is important to old guys) at ProjectYM.
