First Place!

clip_image002As someone who has lived in this area for a long time and remembers the winning ways of the  ‘96 and ‘97 O’s, these are exciting times. For one night this week, the O’s were in first place (Yes, the Nationals have there all week, but…)

Tonight, before the team plays those Yankees and fight back into first place, Cal Ripken will be recognized with his own bronze statue as part of the Orioles Legends Celebration Series. I was blessed to be in Camden Yards se3venten years ago tonight as “the Ironman” broke the record by playing in 2,131 consecutive games. What an awesome night!

No matter regarding wins or losses, there is something worth celebrating regarding the consistency and drive over the long haul. No matter the little wins or small defeats that you will face this day, take a moment and consider the long haul. What will it take for you to become a youth ministry Ironman… or Ironwoman? If you can answer that question, can first place be far behind?

Youth Contact

Some of our favorite weekends of the year are occurring in September with the Youth Contact meetings. We look forward to you being with us in operson or in the spirit of prayer for the community.

BYCC — Assemble

Wow, the phone lines have been really heating up with questions for BYCC registration. Sadly, thus far, BYCC Man has not been around to answer them! Please consider nominating an animator, a talented young person from your parish or school to share their gifts with the youngchurch. We need more heroes!

Created to Love

On September 24, there will be a one-day training regarding the Archdiocesan Human Sexuality programming for high school aged students, Created to Love. Many have already begun utilizing this mandated programming… but, if this is unfamiliar to you, you might considerer this training or contacting Scott for more info.

Youth Rally and March for Life

In January is the annual Youth Rally and March for Life … It seems a long time away, but the period for requesting that tickets be reserved for you occurs this month.

> In the most recent America magazine, there is an article supporting the methodology of memorization. Where are you on learning faith by heart?
> Registration has officially opened for the Mid-Atlantic Congress in March.

Let’s Go, O’s! And Nat’s, Ravens, Steelers, and ‘Skins this weekend, too! Since we’ve hit the sports theme rather hard today, RIP Baltimore Raven Super Bowl ring wearer Art Modell
